- About the role
The Alumni and Donor Communications Coordinator strengthens relationships between UW–Eau Claire, its alumni, donors, and students. This role leads the strategy and operations of the Student Engagement Center and serves as a central coordinator for alumni and donor communications.
Responsibilities
- Engagement Center Leadership & Strategy (50%)
- Oversee daily management of the Student Engagement Center, including hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising student staff and supervisors.
- Design and implement a comprehensive vision for the Engagement Center that expands beyond fundraising to include stewardship, alumni engagement, donor outreach, and relationship-building activities.
- Execute outreach through phone, text, email, and other channels.
- Monitor performance, set goals, and improve results using data.
- Ensure the Engagement Center is aligned with overall advancement strategies and timelines.

- Serve as a central coordinator for alumni and donor communications, maintaining a comprehensive understanding of outreach efforts across solicitation, stewardship, events, and engagement.
- Collaborate with colleagues across advancement and campus partners to align messaging, timing, and audience strategy to ensure cohesive and strategic communications.
- Develop and support integrated, multi-channel communications plans using email, direct mail, texting campaigns, digital platforms, and storytelling.
- Assist in integrating campaign messaging into existing communication channels and plans, ensuring consistency and alignment leading into and throughout campaign efforts.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen coordination, reduce redundancy, and enhance the overall effectiveness of communication efforts.

- Track and analyze communication performance to inform strategy and improve engagement outcomes.

- Website & Digital Content (10%)
- Serve as the primary liaison for updating and maintaining alumni and donor-related website content.
- Collaborate with campus partners to ensure web content is current, accurate, and aligned with communication priorities and campaign messaging.

- Collaboration & Administration (5%)
- Build strong partnerships with advancement colleagues, alumni relations, student affairs, and campus communications to support shared goals.
- Maintain records and reporting for engagement and communications.

Key Job Responsibilities
- Assists with the development of strategic planning initiatives and objectives, program budgets, and monitors activity to ensure adherence to established guidelines.
- Assists with the design, development, and delivery of marketing and communication materials and other event publications to promote development events and programs.
- Schedules logistics and secures resources for event and program activities, facilities, participants, and vendors adhering to established timelines and expectations.
- Collections, prepares, and analyzes donor information and event data and provides subsequent recommendations for improvement and enhancement.
- Serves as a point of contact for internal and external stakeholders at meetings and activities to advocate for and promote the interests of the unit.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or related field.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Understanding of multi-channel communications (email, digital, etc.).
- Comfort using digital tools (email platforms, web systems, CRM tools).
- Basic graphic design skills (Canva, Adobe, or similar).
- Strong organization and ability to manage multiple projects.
- Ability to work collaboratively and adapt to changing priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supervising or mentoring student or part-time staff.
- Experience in higher education, nonprofit, or fundraising environments.
- Familiarity with alumni/donor engagement strategies.
- Experience coordinating communications across teams.
- Basic website editing experience.
- Experience using data to evaluate communications or engagement.
