Direct Care & Treatment (DCT) operates a highly specialized behavioral health care system that serves people with mental illness, substance abuse disorders, and developmental and intellectual disabilities. This includes psychiatric hospitals and other inpatient mental health treatment facilities; inpatient substance abuse treatment facilities; dental clinics, group homes, vocational sites, and sex offender treatment facilities.

About the role

This position will support a Minnesota Intensive Therapeutic Home (MITH) in Minneapolis, Minnesota. MITH provides a unique alternative to institutional placement for children and adolescents with severe emotional disturbance (SED) and serious acting-out behaviors. Services are provided within the context of a family foster setting.

Foster Parents are responsible for the care, supervision and support of one MITH foster child in their home by implementing and monitoring the treatment plan that has been developed for that child. Foster Parents are expected to follow program policies and direct any inquiries regarding the child, their treatment, or the child’s family to the program staff.

Responsibilities

  • Provide care, supervision, and support for one MITH foster child in your home
  • Implement and monitor the child’s treatment plan
  • Transport and accompany the child to medical appointments, community outings, recreational activities, and spiritual events
  • Follow program policies
  • Direct inquiries about the child, their treatment, or the child’s family to program staff

Requirements

  • Must hold a current Child Foster Care License through the State of Minnesota
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Current and valid driver's license
  • Basic math skills
  • Clear communication skills
  • Basic computer skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working effectively with others from different backgrounds and cultures
  • Experience working with youth in an educational, childcare, residential, or mental health care setting

Schedule

  • Full-time, unlimited position
  • Day shift: 9 am - 9 pm
  • Days of work: Monday - Friday
  • Travel required for transporting and accompanying individuals to appointments and activities

Pay

$26.12 per hour; $54,539 annually
