Foster Care Trainer/Recruiter

About the Role

Maintains oversight of foster parent charts and ensures compliance with annual training hours required by policy. Oversees annual reassessments, mandatory background checks, and coordinates recruitment campaigns for prospective foster homes through networking, media exposure, and community engagement.

Responsibilities

• Oversee annual reassessments and mandatory foster home background checks.
• Plan and staff TN KEY and pre-service training.
• Supervise the investigation and selection of therapeutic foster homes.
• Coordinate recruitment campaigns, including networking with civic groups, newspapers, and media exposure.
• Prepare and facilitate annual training plans for foster parents and staff.
• Supervise and match selected therapeutic foster parents and children.
• Manage the Parent Training/Recruitment line item in the Foster Care/RHET budget.
• Conduct Foster Parent Home Studies and manage parent charts in the TFACTS database.
• Assist in coordinating special events such as the Christmas Party and Summer Programming.
• Participate in the on-call rotation for weekend coverage.
• Follow all policies in accordance with DCS Core Standards, PPM, and Licensure standards.
• Work in a multi-disciplinary team to meet the clinical needs of foster care consumers.
• Complete all required documentation in compliance with Center Policy, CARF, and Provider Policy Manual standards.
• Provide ongoing training for foster parents, ensuring they meet the 14-hour annual training requirement.
• Recruit, retain, and maintain the recruitment budget.
• Attend and lead weekly management and program team meetings.
• Respond to flags, emails, voicemails, and inquiries from parents within 2 business days.
• Conduct home visits, interviews, and home studies for prospective foster parents.
• Monitor and ensure completion of background checks (fingerprinting, TBI, FBI, sex offender registry, etc.).
• Provide training opportunities for foster parents to accumulate required training hours.
• Create and distribute quarterly training calendars and newsletters.
• Attend agency collaborative meetings and local events to promote the foster care program.
• Research and implement new recruitment efforts.
• Plan and implement retention activities, including picnics and holiday parties.
• Monitor and reconcile the recruitment budget.
• Support case managers through positive reinforcement and open communication.
• Provide specialized training and interventions for foster parents and clients.
• Participate in the rotating on-call schedule.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in social work or a related behavioral field.
• Preferred minimum of five (5) years' experience as a caseworker in child welfare.
• Must have coursework or experience in cultural diversity, human development, mental illness, physical and sexual abuse, suicide, and mental disabilities.
• Significant experience in foster care placement and/or supervising others.
• Capable of driving a car and transporting clients in your personal vehicle.
• Ability to utilize non-violent crisis intervention methods, including therapeutic holding.
• Mental ability to exercise sound judgment under pressure.

Pay

Starting salary for this position is approximately $21.82 per hour based on relevant experience and education.
