Foster Care Licensing Supervisor

About the Role

Ohio Mentor, a part of the Sevita family, provides Residential and Treatment Foster Care services to youth who may be facing out-of-home placements, transitioning back into the family home or independent living alternatives, or involved in the juvenile justice system. Through personalized programming, we help youth gain stability, comfort, and confidence to overcome challenges and live well. This role manages a team of Licensing Coordinators/Specialists to ensure ongoing program compliance with required licensing standards during recertification of host home provider families. Supervises four or more full-time employees.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure host/foster home provider families meet or exceed certification and recertification competencies as required by state licensing, accreditation standards, and MENTOR operating policies, in conjunction with the quality improvement team.
  • Prepare for certification/recertification reviews and audits; develop and implement corrective action plans in response to findings of non-compliance and technical assistance.
  • Ensure all steps in the review of contractual compliance and re-evaluation process are completed and documented, including home studies, updates, amendments, physical environment evaluations, mentor files, and investigations related to licensing issues. Communicate concerns and recommendations to operations management.
  • Collect and analyze data, complete documentation reviews, and generate reports on compliance, mentor skill development, mentor retention, rule violations, and external investigations. Provide applicable recommendations.
  • Interact with representatives from licensing and certification entities to ensure compliance.
  • Serve as a subject-matter expert for operations leadership and foster home assessors regarding regulations.
  • Complete ongoing training as required by the state or regulatory agency.
  • Perform other related duties and activities as required.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Supervise four or more Licensing Coordinators/Specialists.
  • Provide clinical and administrative supervision and performance management.
  • Direct and supervise assigned staff, including performance evaluations, orientation, and training.
  • Make decisions on employee hires, transfers, promotions, salary changes, discipline, terminations, and similar actions.
  • Resolve employee problems within position responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent level of experience to meet licensure requirements as identified by regulatory or certification agencies.
  • 3 years of related experience.
  • Trained and fluent in state-specific regulations and in utilizing the state-specific information system.
  • Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Licenses and certifications as required by regulatory or certification agencies (such as LSW, LPC, LISW, LPCC, LISW-S, or LPCC-S).
  • Current driver’s license, car registration, and auto insurance if providing transportation for individuals receiving services.
  • Functional knowledge of computer applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.); ability to maintain comprehensive files and database systems.
  • Travel as needed within the state.

Physical Requirements

Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.
