Foster Care Licensing Supervisor
About the Role
Ohio Mentor, a part of the Sevita family, provides Residential and Treatment Foster Care services to youth who may be facing out-of-home placements, transitioning back into the family home or independent living alternatives, or involved in the juvenile justice system. Through personalized programming, we help youth gain stability, comfort, and confidence to overcome challenges and live well. This role manages a team of Licensing Coordinators/Specialists to ensure ongoing program compliance with required licensing standards during the recertification of host home provider families. Supervises four or more full-time employees.
Responsibilities
- In conjunction with the quality improvement team, ensures that host/foster home provider families meet or exceed certification and recertification competencies as required by state licensing, accreditation standards, and MENTOR operating policies.
- Prepares for certification/recertification reviews and audits; develops and implements corrective action plans in response to findings of non-compliance and technical assistance.
- Ensures all steps in the review of contractual compliance and re-evaluation process are completed and documented, including but not limited to home studies, home study updates and amendments, physical environment evaluation, mentor files, investigations related to licensing issues, and communicates concerns and recommendations to operations management.
- Collects and analyzes data, completes documentation reviews, and generates reports and recommendations on compliance, mentor skill development, mentor retention, rule violations, and external investigations.
- Interacts with representatives from licensing and certification entities to ensure compliance.
- Serves as a subject-matter expert for operations leadership and foster home assessors regarding regulations.
- Completes ongoing training as required by the state or regulatory agency.
- Performs other related duties and activities as required.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Supervises four or more Licensing Coordinators/Specialists.
- Provides clinical and administrative supervision and performance management.
- Directs and supervises assigned staff, including performance evaluations, orientation, and training.
- Makes decisions on employee hires, transfers, promotions, salary changes, discipline, terminations, and similar actions.
- Resolves employee problems within position responsibilities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent level of experience to meet licensure requirements as identified by regulatory or certification agencies.
- 3 years of related experience.
- Trained and fluent in state-specific regulations and in utilizing the state-specific information system.
- Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
- Licenses and Certifications as required by regulatory or certification agencies (such as LSW, LPC, LISW, LPCC, LISW-S, or LPCC-S).
- Current driver’s license, car registration, and auto insurance if providing transportation for individuals receiving services.
- Functional knowledge of computer applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.); ability to maintain comprehensive files and database systems.
- Travel as needed within the state.
Physical Requirements
Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.
