About the role
This internship provides hands-on experience working with the foster care population. You will also have the opportunity to observe other therapeutic areas throughout the agency.
Responsibilities
- Working with foster care youth and foster parents
- Case management
- Learning diagnostic assessments and treatment plans
- Absessing and engaging with youth
- Observing interventions for youth
- Interacting with caregivers, parents, foster parents, school staff, office staff, and other mental health professionals
- Learning documentation and paperwork
- Traveling daily to provide community-based services to youth and families
Requirements
- Must be enrolled in either a Bachelor of Social Work or Master of Social Work program from an accredited College or University
- An internship or field placement must be a requirement by the institution
- Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, smart phones and tablets, as well as software including word processing, spreadsheet and database programs
- Valid driver’s license
- Reliable personal transportation
- Good driving record
- Minimum automobile insurance coverage of $100,000/$300,000 bodily injury liability
