About the role
The Senior Social Service Assistant serves as the Program Manager for the assigned locality, focusing on trauma-informed case management for clients in our facilities. This position involves managing a caseload of internal and community clients, handling on-call responsibilities, and transporting clients for case management needs.
Responsibilities
- Provide trauma-informed case management to 14 internal clients in shelters and community clients as needed.
- Manage paperwork and billing for contractual obligations.
- Attend meetings (virtual and in-person), training, and conferences as requested.
- Maintain organized and detail-oriented client files; prepare for program audits with the Program Manager.
- Serve one week per month of on-call responsibility.
- Assist the Program Manager in covering open shifts and call-offs when on-call.
- Implement risk assessments according to policies and procedures as directed by the Program Manager.
- Assist in developing and overseeing new aspects of service provision, including community facility access.
- Lead by example as part of the shelter's leadership team, collaborating respectfully with colleagues, partners, staff, and residents.
- Attend outside meetings with the Program Manager (e.g., Advisory Board, Prioritization, Change Hunger).
- Provide residents with practical, personal, social, and general care services.
- Collaborate with clients to develop realistic case management goals using a trauma-informed approach.
- Monitor and review support plans weekly, adjusting to residents' changing needs.
- Promote resident involvement in decision-making processes.
- Lead house meetings, life skills classes, creative classes, and staff-led groups.
- Communicate and liaise with external agencies (e.g., Department of Veterans Affairs, Probation Services, Housing Authority, legal organizations).
- Provide advocacy and accompany residents to appointments as needed.
- Travel to community locations to deliver case management services.
- Comply with agency policies, COA regulations, federal and state requirements, and certification standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Ability to model open communication, fairness, empathy, and respect for people of all backgrounds.
- Professional in-person, phone, email, and written communication skills, even in stressful situations.
- Knowledge of community resources and services.
- Ability to obtain CPR/First Aid certification.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word.
- Reliable transportation and phone.
- Ability to be on call for one week per month.
- Valid Ohio Driver’s License and ability to meet agency driving insurability requirements.
- Ability to meet agency requirements for a criminal background check (Ohio BCI&I).
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; case management experience required.
- Bachelor’s degree or pursuit of a degree in social work or a related field preferred.
- CPR/First Aid Certification preferred.
- Experience in crisis intervention and case management preferred.
Pay
$16/hour
