About the role
Harvey is transforming legal and professional services with frontier agentic AI, an enterprise-grade platform, and deep domain expertise. The Finance Engineering team works as the investment‑side counterpart to Legal Engineering, turning real deal experience into Harvey solutions and shaping the product roadmap. This role is the first Finance Engineer dedicated to real estate, where you will build the real‑estate playbook, run live pilots, and lead the real‑estate practice as the team grows.
Responsibilities
- Lead discovery, demos, pilots, trainings, onboarding, and custom builds alongside Account Executives and Customer Success Managers.
- Translate real investment work into Harvey solutions, serving as the trust layer across the customer lifecycle.
- Build the real‑estate playbook: demo library, workflow templates, and use cases.
- Run live pilots and lead the real‑estate practice as the team scales.
- Travel approximately 2–3+ times per month (typically 1–3 days per trip) for significant business needs.
- Work with real‑estate private equity platforms, debt funds, insurer/asset‑manager real‑estate arms, and developer‑investors on screening, underwriting, diligence, modeling, and committee materials.
- Produce OM and broker package review, rent roll and T‑12 normalization, lease and estoppel abstraction, ARGUS and acquisition model builds, third‑party report review, loan document and term sheet review, sale and rent comps, investment committee materials, and post‑close asset‑management reporting, loan compliance, and valuation support.
- Bring acquisitions‑team feedback back into the product to shape Harvey’s future.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience on an acquisitions, asset management, or real‑estate credit team at a real‑estate private equity platform, real‑estate debt fund, insurer or asset‑manager real‑estate arm, or developer‑investor, with demonstrated ownership of live deal work (screening, underwriting, diligence, modeling, drafting committee materials).
- Strong command of the documents and data that drive real‑estate investment decisions (OM and broker package, rent roll and T‑12, leases and estoppels, third‑party reports, loan documents, ARGUS and Excel acquisition models) and an instinct for where numbers and paper disagree.
Skills
- Advanced Excel and financial modeling.
- Comfort with prompting and agentic AI workflows; builder’s instinct for turning manual processes into repeatable automation.
- Python, SQL, or experience building internal tools (plus).
- Executive presence and relationship‑building skills to establish credibility from analysts to partners and investment‑committee members.
- Outstanding communication and presentation abilities — comfortable leading live demos, facilitating workshops, and discussing underwriting assumptions.
- Deep curiosity about AI’s potential to transform investment work, paired with a practical, solutions‑oriented mindset and bias toward action.
- Track record partnering with senior stakeholders to drive results, with curiosity for testing approaches and optimizing for customer outcomes.
- Customer‑facing or commercial experience (LP/investor relations, capital formation, banking/brokerage coverage, business development) and/or hands‑on experience using AI tools in an investment setting (plus).
