Forward Deployed Engineer ($100k–$150k + Equity) at Doctours
Job Description
- Act as the human fallback for patient conversations when AI systems fail, providing empathetic support for people undergoing significant medical procedures.
- Diagnose the root cause of system failures and implement permanent fixes using code, workflow edits, or prompt engineering.
- Build out the initial automation infrastructure for the clinic-side of the business to streamline global operations as Doctours expands into oncology and orthopedics.
Why this role is remarkable
- You will work directly with the CEO (ex-Meta) in a high-ownership environment where you split your time between solving patient problems and building the technical systems to prevent them.
- This role is designed to eliminate its own repetitive tasks; as the company grows, you spend less time reacting and more time building foundational automation for new medical verticals.
- You are joining a mission-driven startup tackling the $100M+ medical debt crisis, with the opportunity to own the patient and clinic experience end-to-end from day one.
The ideal candidate
- You have 1–3 years of experience in high-stakes environments like healthcare or customer success and can stay calm when patients are nervous or overwhelmed.
- You possess a builder’s mindset and are comfortable using AI coding tools and system-thinking to automate tasks rather than managing them manually.
- You are an empathetic communicator who understands that medical travel is a significant life event, ensuring patients feel cared for rather than just processed.
About the role
As the 'last patient coordinator,' you’ll handle complex patient needs that AI cannot yet solve, then write code and design workflows to automate those solutions. It’s a unique hybrid of customer experience and engineering aimed at scaling care through technology.
