About the role
Coordinates and executes activities in the intermediates and bulk materials manufacturing laboratories to meet production and R&D needs while maintaining a well-organized and clean environment that satisfies ISO and GMP Standards.
Effectively plans and utilizes time and resources to meet business needs and achieve business objectives planning, assigning, and evaluating the work of subordinates and overseeing a program area within a work unit or department.
Responsibilities
- Maintains and adheres to all company safety policies and procedures.
- Maintains and utilizes process equipment including reaction vessel RV-1, scales, mixers, chillers, rheological devices, draw-down machines, and a three-roll mill according to established procedures.
- Executes necessary IFS transactions to ensure accurate inventory and records.
- Supports physical inventories as requested by Management.
- Operates laboratory equipment (e.g. FTIR Spectrometer, DSC).
- Supports Research and Development activities, including participation in product/process development trials, carrying out new types of raw material and product characterization/performance testing and use of experimental materials.
- Identifies means for continually improving the intermediates and bulk materials manufacturing processes, including troubleshooting of equipment, developing corrective action to process deviations and offering recommendations for process and system improvements.
- Supports development and implementation of improvements in the formulation manufacturing areas.
- Assists with in-process testing to assure manufactured materials meet specifications.
- Works closely with Supply Chain concerning raw materials and intermediates availability.
- Works with subordinates to ensure adherence to quality standards and regulatory compliance.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent work experience
- 3+ years of prior work experience in a manufacturing environment (Ink, formulation or Chemical Processing preferred).
- Ability to lift 75+ pound pails.
Qualifications
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance work instructions, procedure manuals and MSDS sheets.
- Must have sufficient English reading, writing and speaking skills to communicate effectively throughout the organization.
- Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
- Must understand and be able to convert measurement units from English to Metric and Metric to English.
- Must have ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
- Must have the ability to draw and interpret data/information graphically (bar graph, line graph, pie chart, etc…).
- Must understand and use simple statistical methods.
- Must have ability to solve moderately complex problems involving multiple variables in standardized situations.
- Must have a deliberate and acute sense of documentation of all activities while in the manufacturing environment.
- Must be familiar with and be able to communicate via e-mail.
- Must be familiar with and be able to use computer software including word processors & spreadsheets (Microsoft Word, Excel, Access), and ERP System.
- Spreadsheet skills must include ability to manipulate data into graphical form.
