Forming Operator - 2nd shift (Fort Wayne, IN)

About the role

Responsible for setting up and operating press brakes to bend and straighten metal parts to precise specifications.

Responsibilities

• Examines part blanks according to blueprints, selects and positions dies, and programs CNC systems.
• Validates set-ups by running first pieces and making adjustments as necessary.
• Lifts manually or uses overhead cranes to position workpieces into the press brake's bed.
• Operates the press brake to form metal parts into the required shapes.
• Maintains control over the forming process by monitoring and adjusting the machine based on material variations.
• Ensures quality control by performing first piece and in-process inspections using tools like calipers, height gauges, and squares.
• Performs routine maintenance and repairs on press brakes as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• The ability to read and interpret complex blueprints.
• One to three years of related experience.
• Able to lift 50# repeatedly.
• Strong computer skills, including some knowledge of CNC systems.
