About the role

A Form Carpenter Foreman performs a variety of tasks including erecting and setting forms for vertical and horizontal concrete structures and site work, per specifications and drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret measuring tools such as tape measure, speed square, framing square, etc., to perform tasks accurately.
  • Fully understand plant north and drawing coordinates.
  • Assist in setting and placement of forms to proper elevations and locations, prepare the base, and install proper reinforcing.
  • Set and erect forms using a wide variety of materials and forming systems for vertical and horizontal concrete forming.
  • Assist in marking, cutting, and assembly of materials.
  • Shape materials to prescribed measurements and assemble, fastening with nails, dowel pins, or glue.
  • Assist in general carpentry tasks, such as building and installing barricades, decks, shelves, and other miscellaneous site needs.
  • Assist in placing and tying rebar.
  • Assist in placing and finishing concrete.
  • Disassemble, remove, and clean form materials.
  • Work in other crafts at levels appropriate to training and skills as requested by project supervision.
  • Take direction from a higher-skilled worker or foreman.
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of construction processes involved in heavy industrial construction.
  • Support the project with other tasks as directed by supervision.
  • Communicate with the Foreman regarding problems, materials required, or hazards noted.
  • Work different shifts and overtime as required.
  • Work under production schedule pressure.
  • Attain set standards of accuracy.
  • Perform duties in a safe manner.
  • Manage, lead, and mentor direct reports.

Requirements

  • 4 years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • NCCER Certification/License (preferred).
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a supervisory role.
  • Knowledgeable of MIC Health and Safety programs and project-specific regulations.
  • Actively participate in daily toolbox meetings with crews and subcontractors.
  • Set a personal example of safe behavior.
  • Follow all state, company, client, OSHA, and federal guidelines regarding health and safety.
  • Practice and maintain good "House Keeping" by cleaning up work areas and jobsites after each task.

Physical Demands

  • Work up to a 12-hour shift doing hard physical work in varying temperatures and outside conditions.
  • Maintain physical strength and stamina; use arms, hands, and legs fully.
  • Push, pull, and frequently lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Stoop, kneel, balance, crouch, crawl, and climb to perform job tasks.
  • Perform tasks repetitively and continuously for several-hour intervals.
  • Work in uncontrolled environmental conditions with constant changes in weather and site conditions.
  • Moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety-toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, and vest.
  • Move in and around confined, cluttered, and uneven areas.
  • Work at heights and abide by all safety and fall-protection requirements; wear and utilize all required safety equipment.
  • Evaluate information based on measurable standards and see details in objects or drawings.
  • Recognize slight differences in shapes and shadings.
  • Visualize objects in three dimensions from drawings.
  • Maintain good balance and work at heights.
  • See well (either naturally or with correction).
  • Hear well (either naturally or with correction).
  • Coordinate the use of eyes, hands, and feet.

Schedule

This is a full-time position scheduled to work typically 50 hours per week. The schedule is subject to project requirements. Travel is required up to 90%, with presence directly on the project site location and intermittent travel to residence of record.

Pay

$37 per hour, commensurate with experience. Competitive pay with ongoing performance review and merit increase.
