Position Summary
We are seeking a Forklift Operator to join our team at Hughson Nut Inc. (HNI). Reporting to a shift supervisor, this position will operate sit-down forklifts to load and unload materials, product, bins, and pallets. Responsibilities include moving items between storage areas, machines, and loading docks, and preparing products for shipment. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively, prioritize safety, and maintain excellent interpersonal skills.
Position Responsibilities
- Locate, pull, and transport full or empty bins, pallets of finished product, packaging supplies, and/or equipment to specified areas.
- Perform daily forklift checks on assigned forklifts.
- Transport raw and processed product to production workstations.
- Maintain and update inventory and activity logs.
- Use inventory scanners to log product in and out of warehouses.
- Pick orders from inventory using a pick sheet.
- Shrink wrap pallets to prepare them for shipping.
- Follow all company safety, hygiene, and work rules.
- Complete certified forklift safety training as required.
- Ensure the company's commitment to providing quality products and services with an emphasis on Food Safety, legality, and integrity.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- A valid forklift certification is required.
- Two (2) years previous forklift experience in sit-down forklift is required.
- Previous experience should include stacking bins.
- Previous work experience in a fast-paced environment is required.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, is required.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, overtime, and weekends during harvest season is required.
- Self-motivated and attention to detail are key qualities.
- Previous knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's), Food Safety, and related regulations is preferred.
Qualifications
- The ideal candidate will work collaboratively, have a sense of urgency, and possess good interpersonal skills.
- The working hours for the shift are typically 6am-2:30pm.
