About the Role
Safely operate a forklift to perform warehouse and material handling duties.
Responsibilities
- Drive the forklift and control the movement of lifting apparatus by moving levers and pressing pedals.
- Position lifting forks under loaded pallets or skids, transport loads to designated areas, and stack materials by raising and lowering the lifting device.
- Maintain material in an efficient and orderly manner by size and grade for easy retrieval.
- Inventory materials on the work floor and supply workers with materials as needed.
- Inspect materials for damage or shortages and report findings to the supervisor.
- Load or unload materials onto or off of pallets, skids, or lifting devices.
- Perform routine maintenance on the forklift, including lubricating the truck, recharging batteries, filling the fuel tank, or replacing the liquefied gas tank.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor to support warehouse operations.
Requirements
- Valid active forklift certification.
- Ability to speak effectively with customers and employees, and to read and understand safety rules, operation, maintenance, and procedure manuals.
- Proficiency in basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to carry out instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- 1-year certificate from a college or technical school; or three to six months of related experience; or two-year technical degree or equivalent with 3-5 years of experience in a related field.
- Ability to read and understand work orders and written instructions, utilize measuring devices such as rulers, tapes, and calipers, and use a computer to check stock and print tags.
- Knowledge of products handled in the warehouse.
- Ability to use banding equipment.
- Ability to pass a physical examination for vision, hearing, and mobility.
- Demonstrated reliable work history.
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on precision and quality in all tasks.
