Forklift Operator - 3rd Shift

About the role

The Forklift Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently loading, unloading, staging, scanning, and moving freight in a warehouse or transportation environment. They ensure cargo accuracy, assist with dock operations, and maintain safety and organization standards. As experienced team members, they mentor new staff and troubleshoot operational issues.

Responsibilities

• Moving, staging, sorting, and positioning freight according to procedures
• Picking, packing, and preparing items for shipment
• Assisting drivers with loading/unloading and handling freight documentation
• Identifying and reporting damaged or unsafe freight
• Maintaining a clean and safe work environment
• Supporting workflow and operational goals, including prioritizing freight and acting as a subject-matter expert
• Mentoring Material Handlers and supporting team development

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Valid forklift certification/license required or obtainable prior to operation
• 3+ years of dock or warehouse experience
• Effective communication skills in English
• Ability to recognize labels, barcodes, and perform basic arithmetic
• Willingness to learn computer systems and freight-tracking devices
• Ability to operate MHE safely, including forklifts and pallet jacks
• Physical ability to lift up to 50lbs regularly and work in demanding environments
• Comfort working around moving equipment, in varying weather conditions, and in noisy environments
