About the Role

Michael Foods, Inc. is a leader in the food processing and distribution industry, specializing in egg products, refrigerated grocery, and potato products. Our Wakefield facility is one of the largest production plants within Michael Foods, serving as a flex plant capable of producing whole pasteurized eggs, liquid, dried, hardboiled eggs, and curds.

Responsibilities

  • Completes the forklift checklist before operation and performs maintenance immediately if issues arise; reports major problems to the supervisor.
  • Assists in setting up the processing area and ensuring proper egg rotation to maintain up-to-date inventory and usage.
  • Transports products and materials to and from the production area.
  • Assists in the cleanup of the production area and helps loaders as needed.
  • Notifies the supervisor of any damage to products or materials.
  • Assists production with labeling, packing, placing pails, and placing finished product into pails and boxes.
  • Ensures materials are clean and sanitized before sending them to producers.
  • Follows Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), adheres to safe work practices, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and maintains sanitary conditions to ensure product quality.
  • Reports any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality, or personnel safety to management.
  • Assumes personal responsibility for maintaining a safe and healthy workplace for everyone and adheres to all safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensures regulatory compliance at all times.
  • Able to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a company forklift license; forklift experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups, customers, vendors, or employees.
  • Basic math skills: ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide two-digit numbers, including using units of American money, weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.
  • Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must demonstrate open and honest communication and maintain positive interpersonal relationships.
  • Able to safely lift and carry 50 lbs.
  • Able to work independently or in a team environment.
  • Self-motivated, willing to ask questions, and seek direction.
  • Displays responsible behavior at work and is open to change.
  • Ability to work in cold, wet, noisy, dusty, and humid environments.
  • Ability to work around required cleaning solutions.
  • Good hand-eye coordination.
  • Able to stand on a hard surface for most of the shift, ascend and descend stairs, bend, stoop or crouch, grasp, and reach.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual in Spanish.
  • Prior manufacturing experience.
  • Ability to troubleshoot minor mechanical issues.
