Forklift Operator - 2nd Shift

About the role

The Forklift Operator supports the Production Operation by performing material movement throughout the facility and grounds using a forklift. Duties include operating various types of forklifts, inspecting machines, reading Bills of Lading and Pick Sheets, stacking and unloading products, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace.

Responsibilities

  • Operates a gas or electric forklift (sit down and stand up) in the warehouse.
  • Performs daily machine inspections while adhering to established safety procedures.
  • Moves product to work areas according to production schedule and daily pick-up sheet.
  • Stacks product in storage areas, loads and unloads shipments to and from the trailer(s).
  • Uploads full and partial pallets, wrap pallets when necessary, stages product for loading, and checks pallets for accuracy to order.
  • Maintains clean and organized aisles or racks storage, consolidates partial pallets when needed.
  • Limits product to work areas according to production schedule and daily pick-up sheet.
  • Labels, sorts, wraps, and ties inventory products.
  • Loads product into containers by hand.
  • Completes required paperwork per company standards.
  • Communicates with management and maintenance personnel on a timely basis to facilitate maintenance and repairs.
  • Complies with company safety policies and maintains a clean and orderly work area.
  • Complies with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Safe Quality Food (SQF) procedures, including timely and accurate documentation of required SQF forms.
  • Maintains regular attendance and punctuality.
  • Performs tasks with little or no supervision.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years or more of related experience in a manufacturing preferred.
  • Forklift certification required.
  • Valid state-issued driver's license preferred.

  • Experience and ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work well with all levels of employees, whether individually or in a team environment.
  • Effectively communicate questions, problems, and reports to co-workers, supervisory, and management personnel.
  • Flexibility to accommodate unscheduled changes in duties and work overtime as needed.
  • Must display a positive attitude and work well with all levels of personnel.

Skills, knowledge & expertise

  • Education and formal training: High school diploma or equivalent required.
