Forklift Operator 2nd Shift 3p-11pm

Responsibilities

• Work safely at all times, be aware of surroundings, and comply with Pratt Industries Safety rules and operating procedures; help hold co-workers accountable for safety.
• Participate in Plant Safety Committee.
• Follow Good Manufacturing Processes (GMPs) and comply with Pratt Industries quality procedures and policies.
• Prevent poor quality from reaching customers by identifying and addressing issues early in the manufacturing process.
• Perform a variety of tasks within the assigned department, potentially working in multiple plant areas on varied projects and customer orders.
• Maintain clean and hazard-free work areas, including housekeeping of workspaces, break rooms, bathrooms, and refrigerators.
• Move various sized units or products between staging areas and maintain accurate inventory records of each unit’s location.
• Perform basic forklift equipment maintenance and general housekeeping duties.
• Adhere to production schedules and work overtime as necessary, including short-notice requests and occasional holidays.
• Additional duties may be assigned by management.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Experience driving and operating a forklift.
• Previous Pratt experience and/or 1 year of forklift operation preferred.
• Experience with scanner or barcode warehouse management inventory systems preferred.
• Ability to multi-task, communicate effectively, problem-solve, read a tape measure, and manage time efficiently.
• Pass substance abuse screening according to company policy.
• High degree of attention and control to prevent damage to materials and equipment.
• Preferred experience in packaging, plastics, paper, converting, warehouse, or manufacturing industries.

Skills

• Able to read and follow factory instructions.
• Proficient in reading a tape measure with speed and accuracy.
• Able to calculate percentages, measurements, volume, and rates; apply high school-level math concepts.
• Ability to apply common sense to carry out written, oral, or graphic instructions.
• Ability to handle problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Working knowledge of equipment design, production specifications, quality standards, and product layouts.

Certifications & Licenses

• Must maintain a current Lift Truck Operator License.

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to stand, walk, talk, and hear.
• Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Occasionally required to sit.
• Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Requires close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, as well as the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

• Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
• Frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
• Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and vibration.
• Noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
