Position Summary
Diesel Truck/Tractor, Trailer and forklift mechanic providing maintenance for MEI fleet of forklifts (6k lb. to Versa Lift 60/80k) Peterbilt and KW tractors and Landoll/KS RGN flatbed trailers.
Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Mid-level mechanic work on diesel vehicles, routine PM service, brake service and hydraulic systems.
- Determines vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests, identifying worn and damaged parts.
- Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules; installing component and part upgrades; controlling corrosion; completing winterization procedures.
- Verifies vehicle performance by conducting test drives, adjusting controls and systems.
- Maintains vehicle records by annotating services and repairs.
- Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for extensive and complex repairs.
- Contains costs by using warranty, evaluating service and parts options.
- Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.
- Enhances maintenance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
- Complete housekeeping duties in assigned area or project area daily and/or when.
Minimum Qualifications (Experience, Skills, And Education)
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Minimum two (2) years proven fleet mechanic experience (Heavy Equipment and Vehicles)
- Minimum of 1 year of intermediate skills working in Microsoft office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Preferred Qualifications (Experience, Skills, And Education)
- Construction industry experience
- Ability to use precision measuring tools and equipment, hand, power, and pneumatic tools
- Rigging experience
Physical Requirements And Working Conditions
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may frequently climb ladders or stairs, stand; walk; sit; lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; use fingers and hands to adjust straps, move equipment and perform daily duties; reach with hands and arms; pull handles and grasp equipment; talk and hear.
- Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- The General Foreman is subject to possible exposure to extreme year-round outdoor environmental conditions and may also be subject to working weekends and holidays.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts; may be exposed to risk of electrical shock and vibration, and high levels of noise.
