Key Responsibilities
- Report to work at Granite City, IL M-F 7:00am – 3:30pm
- Safely operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment to load and unload trailers, containers, and warehouse storage areas.
- Food-grade loading and unloading in accordance with company and regulatory standards to prevent contamination.
- Handle hazardous materials (HAZMAT) in compliance with DOT, OSHA, and company guidelines.
- Accurately complete and verify all required documentation, including: Bill of lading (BOL), Lot numbers, Product ID and quantity verification, HAZMAT paperwork, Shipping/receiving records.
- Inspect trailers, pallets, and packaging for damage or contamination.
- Maintain strict adherence to safety procedures, PPE requirements, and warehouse best practices.
- Conduct routine equipment inspections and report issues promptly.
- Communicate effectively with shipping, receiving, and quality teams to ensure accurate order fulfillment.
- Assist with inventory counts and rotation as required.
Qualifications
- 2–5+ years of forklift operating experience in a warehouse or distribution center.
- Experience working with food-grade products and understanding of sanitation requirements.
- Proven HAZMAT handling and documentation experience (certification preferred).
- Strong attention to detail, especially with lot numbers, product tracking, and paperwork accuracy.
- Ability to read and interpret shipping documents and safety data sheets (SDS).
- Knowledge of warehouse safety standards and OSHA regulations.
- High school degree, or equivalent.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- Must be able to pass a drug test to operate heavy machinery.
- Must be able to pass a respirator fitness test and maintain that fitness.
- Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment and work in environments where food-grade and chemical products are handled.
- Maintain valid driver’s license.
- Cannot be legally blind.
