About the role

Environmental Operators are responsible for all environmental needs in the shop. This position champions reusing, reducing, and recycling all material in a safe and clean manner. Most responsibilities are performed using a forklift, and the role is 100% on the plant floor.

Responsibilities

• Dump chip hoppers using a forklift
• Empty trash cans throughout the shop and restrooms
• Clean restrooms once per shift
• Mix coolants and add coolant to machines when necessary
• Break down and bale cardboard boxes
• Check the concentration levels on machines
• Recycle used coolant in a safe and clean manner
• Cut filter media for machines
• Run the floor scrubber
• Clean coolant tanks

Requirements

• 1+ years related experience preferred
• 3+ years experience as a Forklift Operator required
• Must have a valid driver’s license
• Understanding and knowledge of ISO standards preferred

• Ability to complete tasks independently
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
• Ability to provide leadership through example and sharing of knowledge/skill
• Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization
• Ability to prioritize tasks, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and delegate assignments
• Ability to comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures; report unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources
• Ability to participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals
• Ability to calculate figures such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
