Forensic-Registered Nurse III (DOH/NMBHI #13531)

Why does the job exist?

Incumbent will be responsible for providing nursing care to meet the needs of the patients in the Forensic Division
Incumbent will be responsible for providing direction/guidance to direct care staff and implementation/direction of all nursing activities towards common hospital goals.

How does it get done?

• Administer all types of medications to include oral and injectable for the purpose of relieving anxiety, controlling behavior and treating physical problems.
• Perform various treatments ordered by the physicians to assure patient's optimal physical/mental well being.

Minimum Qualification

• Must possess a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in New Mexico, or eligibility for such licensure in accordance with New Mexico requirements, or eligibility for a temporary license issued for employment at a specific institution in New Mexico and three (3) years of experience as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification.

Employment Requirements

• Must possess and maintain a Drivers License.
• Must obtain a Defensive Driving Certificate
• SAFETY SENSITIVE POSITIONS--This position ls designated as safely sensitive.

Employment Requirements

• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
• Successful completion of the Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA).

Working Conditions

• This position will work in an office setting with exposure to Visual Video Display Terminal (VDD, personal computer, and phone usage.
• The work is in the psychiatric hospital setting with patients who struggle with mental illness and could present with unpredictable behavior.
