Foreman - Utilities

About the Role

This hourly, non-exempt position supervises craft employees in the Utilities construction discipline under direct and indirect supervision.

Responsibilities

• Work with the Project Superintendent to develop and maintain a thorough understanding of project plans and specifications.
• Develop a plan to meet or exceed specifications, safety requirements, and production paces.
• Supervise assigned crew members to ensure tasks are safely and productively completed on time with high quality.
• Prioritize, schedule, and communicate plans and tasks to crew members, customers, and inspecting agencies.
• Plan work schedules, determining manpower levels, material quantities, trucking, equipment requirements, and traffic control needs.
• Monitor work performance and productivity to ensure adherence to project rules, procedures, and safety requirements.
• Complete daily quantity reports with diary notes and accurate employee time reports.
• Advise superintendents and project management of potential problems, work interferences, or schedule difficulties; assist in resolving such issues.
• Maintain positive relationships with other departments to support the construction schedule and promote positive public relations.
• Ensure a safe working environment and exercise proper care, maintenance, and operation of company equipment.
• Frequently work more than 40 hours per week, including nights, Saturdays, and occasionally Sundays.
• Perform additional assignments as directed by supervisor.

Requirements

• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record per company standards.
• Basic math skills.
• Successful completion of PennDOT Flagger Training Course.
• CPR and first aid trained.
• Obtain and maintain all mandatory training.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years of construction experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Previous supervisory experience preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Constant (67%–100%) ability to walk and work on uneven terrain.
• Constant (67%–100%) ability to work in a field environment with exposure to dust, inclement weather, extreme heat, and cold.
• Constant (67%–100%) ability to wear required personal protective equipment.
• Occasionally (0%–33%) ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

This is a safety-sensitive position.

Schedule

Frequently requires more than 40 hours per week, including night shifts, Saturdays, and occasionally Sundays.
