Position Overview
SPS specializes in delivering innovative, durable, and aesthetically pleasing glazing installations that meet the diverse needs of our clients. As a Lead Foreman, you will play a crucial role in managing and supervising the installation and repair of glass, windows, and related products at various job sites. Your expertise will ensure that projects are completed on time and to the highest standards of quality and safety. In this position, you will coordinate closely with project managers to ensure timely and efficient completion of projects. You will also be responsible for training and mentoring team members on proper techniques and safety procedures, fostering a culture of safety and excellence within our team.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Install, repair, and replace various types of glass, including windows, storefronts, curtain walls, all glass walls, doors and hardware.
- Mentor and guide Helpers and Mechanics in proper Installation techniques and safety practices.
- Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and work orders to determine layout and installation procedures.
- Load and unload materials and equipment; transport items to designated areas on-site.
- Take accurate field measurements, and verify field conditions before installation process begins.
- Ensure all materials are securely anchored and aligned, ensuring water-tight and structurally sound installations.
- Handle glass safely, using proper equipment such as suction cups, lifts, or cranes when needed.
- Maintain tools and equipment in clean and working conditions, report issues or damage promptly.
- Collaborate with installers and superintendents to help resolve on-site issues.
- Maintain tools, materials, and work-area in a safe, clean condition.
- Strictly follow all safety regulations and always wear appropriate PPE.
- Participate in Toolbox Talks, Safety Meetings, and Daily Huddles regularly.
- Support the Disciplinary Program and uphold company culture and job site conduct standards.
- Communicate with PM Team and report any observed discrepancies, changes and problems immediately.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and other trades on-site.
Requirements / Qualifications
- 5–8 years of experience in the glazing industry or a related construction trade.
- Proficient in glass handling, installation of curtain walls, storefronts, and door systems.
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents and layout drawings.
- Strong understanding of glazing techniques, tools, materials, and hardware.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team effectively.
- OSHA 10 Certification preferred (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire).
- Strong work ethic, punctuality, and willingness to teach and learn.
- Physical ability to lift and carry heavy materials, work at heights, and operate in various weather conditions.
- Must be punctual and able to follow instructions from leadership.
- Willingness to travel to different job sites as required.
Physical Demands
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb for extended periods.
- Occasionally lift but not limited to 50 lbs.
- Exposure to the loud noise of construction equipment and traffic.
- Exposure to fumes or airborne particles.
- Exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
- Exposure to extreme cold (non-weather).
- Exposure to extreme heat (non-weather).
- Risk of electrical shock.
- Vibration.
