Foreman Carpenter

About the Role

Manage a carpenter crew as they construct, dismantle, and repair wooden and metal objects and/or concrete forms on industrial construction projects.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints, sketches, or building plans to determine scope of work, material quantities, and required tools.
• Oversee and lead a crew of 1-15 employees in constructing, erecting, installing, and repairing structures and fixtures using hand and power tools.
• Identify safety risks and implement precautions to eliminate those risks.
• Compute basic arithmetic functions, measure, mark, and cut materials to specification.
• Follow all safety, company, and site rules and regulations.
• Work a full schedule and additional overtime as needed.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a Journeyman carpenter on an industrial construction project.
• 2+ years of experience in a supervisory position.
• Proficient in reading blueprints, plans, and drawings.
• Knowledge of materials, tools, and processes involved with basic building techniques and form construction.
• Reliable transportation.
• Willingness to work safely and adhere to all safety rules and regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Current Zachry or Zachry ROF’ed employee.
• Former experience working with Zachry Industrial, Inc.
• National Center for Construction Education and Research’s (NCCER) certification for Industrial Journeyman Carpenter.
• Formal/technical education.
• Experience working with concrete and rebar.

Physical Requirements

• Extensive standing, walking, bending, squatting, sitting, and lifting.
• Frequent use of arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls, and tools.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and occasionally work off platforms/scaffolding using appropriate fall protection.
• Work in all weather conditions (heat, rain, cold, wind) while wearing appropriate PPE.
• Required PPE includes hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs, masks/respirators, hi-vis safety vests, leather gloves, and leather steel-toed work boots.

Reports To

Lead a crew of up to 5-15 craft workers, including journeymen, helpers, and laborers.
