Meat Clerk

About the role

The Meat & Seafood Clerk plays a crucial role in maintaining a clean and organized store environment, assisting customers, and ensuring the freshness and accuracy of meat and seafood products.

Responsibilities

• Ensures cleanliness of meat and seafood cases, storage area, and work area
• Stocks meat and seafood cases
• Examines the rotation of all meat and seafood products
• Assists customers with purchases, information, and product selection
• Monitors point of purchase signs and promotional materials
• Operates and uses equipment such as knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks, and hand trucks
• Maintains proper temperatures and prepares various meat and seafood products
• Organizes and rotates meat products in the cooler and freezer
• Uses knowledge of scales, weights, and tares to accurately weigh and label meat products
• Maintains safety practices and care while using all cutting accessories
• Supports pre-inventory preparation and back stock
• Sustains a high level of product knowledge and preparation

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalency degree
• Preferred 1-2 years grocery retail experience in Meat department processes and procedures
• Previous experience in a natural foods industry is a plus

• Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
• Flexibility to adapt to varying situations
• Ability to work varied hours/days as business dictates
• Familiarity with Health Department guidelines and regulations
• Basic knowledge of math, weights, and measures
• Skills working with knives, tenderizers, grinders, and general meat machinery
• Expert packaging and wrapping skills
• Understanding of COOL compliance for seafood products

Pay

Competitive compensation with raises based on Fresh Thyme Market plan policy. Starting rates range from $15.00 to $16.50 per hour.

Schedule

Variety of hours/days as business dictates.
