Responsibilities
- Handle all contested default foreclosure litigation matters from referral through resolution.
- Represent lenders, mortgage servicers, investors, and other creditors in South Carolina state courts.
- Draft and review pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests and responses, and other litigation documents.
- Attend hearings, mediations, depositions, and trials as needed.
- Develop litigation strategies and provide legal analysis and recommendations to clients.
- Communicate regularly with clients regarding case status, litigation strategy, and outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, investor, and client guidelines.
- Collaborate with paralegals, legal assistants, and other attorneys to efficiently manage workflow.
- Maintain accurate case management records and meet all court deadlines.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Active license to practice law in South Carolina, in good standing.
- Minimum of 2 years of litigation experience, with foreclosure, creditors' rights, mortgage servicing, or real estate litigation experience strongly preferred.
- Strong legal research, writing, negotiation, and courtroom advocacy skills.
- Ability to independently manage a high-volume caseload while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and client service skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal case management software.
