Football Operations Coordinator (Athletics Administration Professional I)
About the role
The Football Operations Coordinator provides operational, administrative, technical, and analytical support for the San Diego State University football program under the general supervision of the Assistant AD, Chief of Staff. The position assists with coordinating football team travel, travel arrangements, expense processing, training table operations, and preseason and postseason travel activities. The incumbent also serves as a business-related liaison with campus departments, student-athletes, coaches, families, and external vendors to support the day-to-day operational needs of the football program while ensuring compliance with university, conference, and NCAA regulations.
Responsibilities
- Aid in coordinating team travel for home and away contests, including travel arrangements, itineraries, vendor coordination, and expense reimbursement processing.
- Support the planning and execution of preseason training camp, postseason bowl travel, training table operations, and special football-related events.
- Serve as a liaison with campus departments, vendors, football alumni, and external partners regarding operational and program needs.
- Aid student-athletes with day-to-day operational needs, including housing, meal plans, financial aid questions, onboarding processes, and family communication.
- Support communication efforts related to student-athletes, football families, alumni engagement, and program updates.
Qualifications
- Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- At least six months to one-year of experience in NCAA Division I intercollegiate athletics, professional sport(s), or a Facilities and Operations office.
- Experience in training and leading student workers.
- Experience staging football and basketball events and serving as the game day manager for various sports.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make decisions in a timely and professional manner.
- Ability to plan, organize, and schedule athletic activities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to effectively utilize Windows based applications including Word, Excel, Access, Publisher, Outlook, and Astra.
- Must possess fiscal responsibility and ability to interpret budgets.

The position is benefits eligible and non-exempt under FLSA, with standard SDSU work hours of Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
