Responsibilities

  • Assists Cook in meal packing in accordance with schedules and procedures for transportation
  • Transport and serve planned meals according to proper preparation methods
  • Transport meals in accordance with the Child Adult Food Care Program (CACFP)
  • Ensure the proper amount of food is available for teachers and children during scheduled mealtime
  • Ensure all areas are clean, safe and properly sanitized and carries trash to outside dumpster for disposal
  • Dispose leftovers and assist in managing and maintaining fresh food products
  • Comply with the company code of conduct and other applicable regulations and requirements, including Head Start Program Performance Standards (HSPPS), Upbring policies, and procedures, Child Care Minimum Standards, HSPPS regulations and standards, and other federal, state, and local regulatory requirements and laws
  • Always ensure the health and safety of each child in care, and support the overall well-being of children
  • Immediately communicate with supervisor all concerns related to child health and safety
  • Under the Center Directors’ leadership ensure operations are effectively and efficiently supporting and meeting the health and nutritional needs of the children and center staff
  • Maintains assigned agency vehicle(s) using checklist

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Current Food Handler Certification
  • Valid Texas Driver’s license and proof of auto insurance; ability to meet Agency insurance provider guidelines as an insured and approved driver
  • Familiarity with basic computer skills, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

Preferred Qualifications: One (1) year experience in the food services industry, Ability to safely transport and handle food while maintaining quality and temperature standards, Working knowledge of safety, sanitation, and food handling procedures required by city, state, and county health department regulations, Bilingual in Spanish and English based on service population

Physical Demands & Work Conditions

This position requires physical activity such as occasional sitting, frequent standing, and walking. This position requires sitting and looking and using a computer for long periods of time. Position works in a child facility and has constant exposure to children. Position requires frequent standing, walking, and being mobile to coordinate events. Lift, push, pull, move up to 25 lbs.
