Food Services Van Driver
About the role
Job Summary QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE Completion of twelfth grade; Possession of a valid and appropriate California Driver’s License; A driving record that meets Palo Alto Unified School District’s insurance requirements.
OVERVIEW: Under supervision, operate Food Services van; deliver food and supplies to the elementary, middle, and high schools; deliver and dispense lunches at school sites; pick up food, supplies, equipment, paperwork, and money from school sites; assist with the organization and movement of items in storerooms and freezers; collect materials only for recycling; and do related work as required.
Responsibilities
- Pick up the van from the bus garage;
- Fill thermal bags with packed meal components;
- Reconcile meals delivered with meals ordered;
- Load van;
- Make deliveries;
- Dispense lunches;
- Pick up cash and sign daily log;
- Pick up equipment and leftover food from school sites and return them to the kitchen;
- Clean bags and racks;
- Maintain the cleanliness of the van;
- Report any malfunctions to Vehicular Maintenance;
- Pick up recyclable materials;
- Operate densifier;
- Ensure that tools and equipment are properly cleaned, maintained, stored, and secured;
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions;
- Communicate effectively orally and in writing;
- Work quickly and lift bulky items.
