Food Services Van Driver
Unified Scale-Schedule A/Grade 003-FEU-OP, 199-day contract, full-time, biweekly pay.
About the role
Operates an automotive van, truck, or related vehicle to transport food, supplies, equipment, and money between designated schools on an assigned route or as a relief driver.
Qualifications
- Any combination of education and experience equivalent to completion of the tenth grade.
- Some experience in automotive transportation and/or delivery.
- Possession of an appropriate, valid motor vehicle operator's license with a good driving record and no preventable accidents.
- Must be free of any infectious or communicable disease which poses a risk of transmission through the handling of food, as determined by the United States Secretary of Health and Human Services.
- Ability to operate, service, and maintain light automotive vehicles used for transporting food and supplies.
- Ability to learn delivery routes and all school locations.
- Ability to meet schedules and timelines.
- Ability to maintain records.
- Proficiency in English to understand highway traffic signs and signals (Section 391.11 Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations).
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
Responsibilities
- Loads, transports, and delivers food, supplies, and equipment to designated finishing kitchens, contract sites, and vending machines; returns empty food containers to a central kitchen.
- Follows oral and written instructions to assemble goods and load food, supplies, and equipment into a van or related vehicle at a central food preparation kitchen.
- Drives assigned vehicle safely to schools and/or sites, adhering to delivery schedules.
- Unloads or assists with unloading the vehicle and loading and returning empty food containers.
- Cleans, sanitizes, and maintains transporting equipment to comply with health and safety requirements.
- Performs routine preventative maintenance, servicing, stocking, and utensil washing at the central kitchen.
- Stocks vending machines.
- Transports bank deposits from finishing kitchen to central kitchen according to procedures.
Work Environment
This job requires strength, agility, dexterity, and visual acuity. The employee must adhere to all site safety regulations and may regularly stand, sit, walk, bend, climb ladders, and/or kneel. Exposure to extreme heat and cold, outdoor environments, heavy equipment, moving machinery, fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noises may occur. Requires lifting up to 25 lbs., periodically lifting/moving up to 50 lbs., and occasional lifting/moving up to 100 lbs. alone or with assistance.
Pay
$31,973 - $55,320 per year.
