Responsibilities
- Lead by example – Roll up your sleeves as a working supervisor, joining your team in the kitchen for food preparation, service, and cleanup—because leadership tastes best when it’s served alongside teamwork.
- Inspire your crew – Guide and motivate a talented team of dietary aides and utility staff, coordinating schedules, delegating tasks, and keeping operations running smoothly.
- Grow your team’s potential – Partner with our Center Manager to provide feedback, coaching, and encouragement, creating a positive and respectful environment for everyone.
- Keep it safe – Ensure our kitchen follows all local, state, and federal food safety guidelines—because great meals start with safe kitchens.
- Make mealtime special – Bring joy to the table by ensuring meals are nutritious and tailored to each participant’s therapeutic, cultural, and religious preferences.
- Collaborate for care – Work hand in hand with our Registered Dietitians and Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) to meet special dietary needs.
- Serve with style – Oversee perfect portioning, beautiful plating, and timely delivery—because presentation matters.
- Pack care to go – Prepare and complete “To Go” kitchen requests, from snacks to frozen meals, so participants have care that travels with them.
- Maintain quality – Monitor food storage, temperatures, logs, cleanliness, and equipment functionality.
- Stay proactive – Conduct regular audits and safety checks, fixing any hiccups right away.
- Manage the pantry – Manage inventory by ordering, receiving, and storing supplies while reducing waste and promoting sustainability.
- Collaborate with leadership – Work with leadership and IDT members for daily operations, special events, and emergency meal planning.
- Communicate effectively – Connect with participants and caregivers, hearing their feedback and making sure everyone feels cared for.
- Step up – Step up wherever necessary to keep the center beating strong.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bring your education – High school diploma or equivalent.
- Lead with experience – 3+ years in food service, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or lead role (healthcare or long-term care preferred).
- Show your credentials – Valid Food Safety Manager Certification (e.g., ServSafe).
- Know your nutrition – Knowledge of therapeutic diets, food allergies, and cultural food practices.
- Follow with precision – Ability to read and follow recipes and meal plans from a Registered Dietitian.
- Stay organized and clear – Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Love who you serve – A true passion for working with older adults.
- Bring relevant know-how – Experience in a PACE, long-term care, or healthcare setting (a big plus!).
- Speak their language – Bilingual skills in Spanish, Tagalog, or other relevant languages welcomed.
- Be ready for anything – CPR/First Aid certification.
Pay
Base salary range: $70,000 to $80,000 per year.
