Key Responsibilities
- Aid in planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating all Food Services Department operations.
- Cook up coordination of dietary services with Nursing, Environmental Services, Activities, Social Services, and other departments to ensure excellent resident care.
- Supervise, train, and support dietary staff while ensuring compliance with department policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Prepare staff schedules and maintain adequate staffing coverage for all shifts.
- Oversee meal preparation and service to ensure meals are delivered on time, at the proper temperature, in the correct portions, and according to approved menus and physician-ordered therapeutic diets.
- Update daily menus, meal tickets, diet changes, selective menus, new admissions, transfers, and re-admissions.
- Process new diet orders and dietary changes received from Nursing.
- Maintain accurate department records, reports, inventory logs, and required documentation.
- Submit accident and incident reports to Human Resources within required timeframes.
- Ensure cleanliness and sanitation throughout food preparation, storage, serving, and dining areas.
- Monitor compliance with food safety regulations, infection control procedures, sanitation standards, and employee dress code policies.
- Absorb purchasing food, supplies, and equipment while maintaining appropriate inventory levels and controlling costs.
- Participate in state and federal surveys and ensure continuous compliance with all applicable regulations.
- Aid in developing and implementing department safety procedures for equipment and daily operations.
- Promote a positive, respectful, and team-oriented work environment.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- A minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience in a hospital, skilled nursing facility, long-term care facility, or other healthcare setting is required.
- Experience or training in food service management, dietary services, nutrition, purchasing, and cost control is preferred.
- Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential.
- The ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced healthcare environment is necessary.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations, sanitation practices, infection control, and healthcare dietary standards is preferred.
