Casual position supporting food service operations under the direction of a manager.
Responsibilities
- Prepares foods to meet nutritional needs while following all established sanitation procedures.
- Performs assigned duties to ensure food service to patients, employees, and visitors.
- Maintains area and equipment in a clean and sanitary condition.
- Observes all safety and sanitation policies and procedures.
- Provides quality customer service.
- Uses proper technique for pulling, rotating, labeling, and dating foods.
- Maintains foods at proper temperatures following H.A.C.C.P. principles.
- Performs additional duties as assigned by a supervisor.
Tray Line Area
- Readies tray service line for meals and portions food according to diet and menu.
- Prepares and delivers patient nourishments to patient care areas.
- Delivers meals to patient rooms and communal areas.
- Performs post-service duties such as pre-setting trays, washing carts, restocking, and preparing for the next meal.
- Scrapes, soaks, washes, and sanitizes pots and pans; checks for cleanliness and delivers to assigned areas.
- Operates and maintains pot machine, recording temperatures as required.
- Dumps trash and maintains cleanliness of the area.
Cafeteria Area
- Provides fast, friendly, accurate, and clean service to customers.
- Acknowledges and greets customers promptly with a smile.
- Prepares foods and sets up service areas according to timelines.
- Replenishes food areas to keep items fresh and well-stocked.
- Operates cash register according to departmental policies and ensures accurate sales transactions.
- Follows cash handler’s agreement and ensures proper signage is displayed.
- Performs minimal cooking (grill, fryer, pizza) to produce quality end products.
- Completes cleaning assignments as scheduled or needed.
Production Area
- Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of production and dietary areas, including floors and equipment.
- Completes designated work timelines.
- Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of walk-in coolers.
- Stocks inventory and fills dietary requisitions.
- Rotates stock and maintains order and cleanliness of storage areas.
- Labels and dates foods according to dietary policies.
Requirements
- Knowledge of weights and measurements.
- Ability to make change and keep accurate records.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Able to follow directions and respond to inquiries.
- Ability to verbalize information about product or recipe contents to customers.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
Working Conditions
- Must be able to move about the hospital and between workstations.
- Must tolerate exposure to temperature changes, humid/hot conditions, and unpleasant odors.
- Must be able to use mops, brooms, and trash mobiles.
- Must occasionally move heavy carts and frequently lift light to medium weight equipment and supplies.
