About the role

Performs a variety of routine manual tasks in a kitchen or dining area following established procedures. Work is reviewed in progress or upon completion for compliance with instructions and established practices.

Responsibilities

  • Removes dishes and trays from tables after meals.
  • Washes tables and counters.
  • Prepares food, operates, breaks down, and cleans all equipment assigned to the area for food preparation.
  • Cleans kitchen equipment such as worktables, sinks, and refrigerators.
  • Separates food waste and trash from dishes, glasses, and silverware.
  • Loads and operates dishwashers.
  • Stores cleaned dishes, glasses, and silverware.
  • Sets up tableware, condiments, and cold menu items such as salads, desserts, bread, and cold beverages on a serving line or tables.
  • Identifies and reports obvious hazards, malfunctioning equipment, and any other situations that may impact work operations.
  • Vacuums and shampoos carpets; sweeps and mops kitchen floors.
  • Cleans windows and washes walls.
  • Cleans and sanitizes trash cans; disposes of trash.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card are required.
  • Must meet qualification, eligibility, and background requirements for this position.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • Must satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks, including a medical examination and Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card.
  • Must be willing and able to work varying shifts to include days, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Must be willing and able to complete a physical.
  • Must be able to lift and move items weighing up to 20 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand and walk frequently, and perform frequent stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and bending.
  • Work is usually performed indoors in areas that have adequate light and ventilation but may involve exposure to hot liquids, sharp cutting blades, and hot working surfaces.
  • Exposure to extreme temperature changes when entering walk-in refrigerators or freezing units.
  • Danger of slipping on floors where food or beverages have been dropped.

Qualifications

  • Must have knowledge of basic food handling techniques, personal hygiene standards, and safe work procedures.
  • Must have the ability to perform routine manual tasks involving few steps and be able to read and understand written material.
  • Must have knowledge of basic arithmetic such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to complete routine work assignments with little supervision.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral instructions and perform simple tasks that are easy to learn.
  • Resumes must clearly demonstrate relevant experience, skills, knowledge, and abilities as they pertain to this position.

Highly preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in food service, preferably in restaurants or catering and banquets.
