Salary: $15.45 - $23.18 hourly ($32,136 - $48,204 annually). This position is a Pay Band C1.

About the role

This position is part of the Psychosocial Rehabilitation Program (PSR) and is responsible for the daily operations of the Canteen, serving daily meals to clients of Community Based Services, an outpatient division of the New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute. Community Based Services (CBS) provides comprehensive, high-quality behavioral health services to individuals in San Miguel, Mora, and Guadalupe counties.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily operations of the Canteen, including customer service, purchasing inventory, stocking, making deposits, and processing check requests.
  • Maintain accurate records of Canteen operations.
  • Ensure proper sanitation of food areas and equipment, product freshness, and adherence to food handling safety policies and procedures.
  • Serve refreshments and daily lunch to clients of the PSR program.
  • Provide daily support to the psychosocial rehabilitation program as needed.

Customers

  • Clients of the CBS PSR Program experiencing behavioral health issues.
  • Employees of Community Based Services.

Ideal Candidate

  • Experience in customer service and the food service industry.
  • Proficient in handling money and maintaining accurate financial records.
  • Understanding of safe food handling practices and sanitation of equipment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, empathy, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Adaptability, willingness to learn, and excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.

Requirements

  • No prior experience or training required.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check pursuant to the New Mexico Caregivers Criminal Screening Act.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver’s License.
  • Must obtain a Defensive Driving Certificate.

Working Conditions

  • Outpatient office setting with exposure to visual/video display terminals (VDT) and extensive computer and phone usage.
  • Exposure to mentally and behaviorally challenged clients who may exhibit unpredictable and potentially violent behavior.
  • Physical requirements include standing, walking, bending, squatting, reaching above head and shoulders, and lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds.
  • Tobacco-free and e-cigarette-free campus (no tobacco or related products permitted).

Schedule

Shift: 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM.

This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement, and all terms/conditions of that agreement apply.
