Responsibilities

The primary role of this position will be to run the Grill Station of the Atrium Café, serving lunch to about 600 SAS employees daily. Responsibilities include:

  • Preparing and/or expediting grill orders during lunch service.
  • Creating and planning menu items and specials, and inputting them into the SAS Food Services online menu planner.
  • Computing amounts and preparing orders for food and supplies required for the area of responsibility.
  • Following all health and safety regulations in food preparation, storage, and cleanup.
  • Operating and maintaining food service equipment (charbroiler, flat top, fryer, slicer, panini press, combi-ovens, tilt braiser) and reporting repairs and maintenance needs.
  • Assisting in other areas of the café, including entrée, starch, deli, soup, salad bar, or vegetable preparation.
  • Utilizing a computer to stay informed about company news and policies.
  • Possibly driving a company vehicle as needed.

Requirements

  • 2 years of experience with food preparation in the area of responsibility.
  • Basic skills in reading, writing, and arithmetic.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Thorough knowledge of operating quantity food service equipment (mixer, dish machine, oven, slicer, food processor) and cooking principles.
  • Ability to work in a hot kitchen or with hot water and stand at a work table or serving line for up to seven hours per day.
  • Advanced food preparation skills, including knife skills, cooking at correct temperatures, and presenting dishes attractively.

  • Equivalent combination of related education, training, and experience may be considered in place of the above requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to learn computer applications specific to departmental needs.
  • Formal coursework, depending on the area of assignment.
  • ServSafe or equivalent certification.
  • Good organizational skills.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 2:30pm
