About the role
The Food Service Supervisor assists the Director of Food Service in managing and supervising the production and service of food in support of the educational system of the District.
Responsibilities
- Maintain quality control and compliance with regulations during food preparation and service.
- Record and manage daily absences and arrange for substitutes.
- Select and schedule staff for overtime and special events.
- Prepare and manage school supply, produce, bread, and milk orders.
- Process bagged lunch requests and coordinate deliveries.
- Generate forecasts for lunch and breakfast numbers for secondary and elementary/middle schools.
- Coordinate and oversee NSLP, SBP, FFVP, and CACFP programs.
- Handle money transactions, including counting and depositing funds.
- Communicate with the Department of Education and Agriculture for facility inspections and audits.
- Order unitized breakfast meals as needed.
- Ensure accurate completion of production records in PrimeroEdge.
- Maintain compliance with all programs and monitor for issues.
- Troubleshoot computerized POS system hardware and software.
- Support the Summer Feeding Program.
- Manage the central commissary daily.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED with at least two years of training in commercial food service.
- At least three years of experience in commercial food preparation.
- One year of supervisory experience.
- General knowledge of National School Lunch Program requirements.
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
- Bilingual/biliterate in Spanish/English preferred.
- Basic arithmetic skills, including fractions and percentages.
- Ability to communicate clearly and independently, prioritize tasks, and make decisions.
- Proficiency in using a personal computer with database.
