About the role

Griffin Memorial Hospital (GMH) is located in Norman, Oklahoma, and serves all 77 counties in Oklahoma as a Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (ODMHSAS) treatment center for adults. Griffin Memorial Hospital is a 120-bed acute psychiatric hospital serving persons aged 18 and over with severe mental illness and provides in-patient hospital care for those in need of mental health & substance abuse services. This agency requires coverage 24 hours, 7 days per week. Work hours and location may vary depending on business necessity. Employees may be required to work weekends and overtime.

Responsibilities

• Handling, preparing, cooking, and serving food
• Catering to regular, modified, and special dietary needs
• Ensuring all work, preparation, and serving areas are kept clean and sanitary

Qualifications

Key qualities

• Understanding of food safety and sanitation protocols
• Ability to accommodate dietary modifications (e.g., special diets for medical or health conditions)
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple food preparation and serving tasks efficiently

Minimum qualifications

• Level I: No experience required
• Level II: One year of experience in a commercial or institutional food service, or an equivalent combination of education and experience (substituting one year of vocational or technical school training in food preparation for the required experience)

Special requirements

• Upon a conditional offer of employment, Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services applicants must submit to a physical examination and shall meet the physical examination requirements of lifting/carrying 50 pounds occasionally, 20 pounds frequently, and able to push and pull a maximum force of 50 pounds
• Applicants must be willing and able to fulfill any job-related travel normally associated with this position and as such have a valid driver’s license

Pay

• Level I: $14.66/hour
• Level II: $15.63/hour
• Annual base salary range: $30,492.80 – $32,510.40 plus a generous benefits allowance
• Up to 7% 401k match

Schedule

• Full-time, shift position
• 8-hour shifts, 5 days a week (40-hour workweeks)
• Both Saturdays and Sundays are required
• Scheduled days vary
• Non-exempt position
