Food Service Specialist- Concessions
About the role
This position functions as a specialist or entry-level manager responsible for assisting in the planning and coordination of one or more components of a food service operation. Duties include food preparation and presentation, merchandising, cost calculation, scheduling, and employee relations.
Responsibilities
- Assist in ensuring quality, cost-efficient food preparation and maintaining safe and sanitary conditions.
- Perform food preparation tasks under supervision.
- Manage inventory, calculate food and labor costs, and assist in menu planning.
- Coordinate schedules and handle employee relations.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Operate and maintain food service equipment.
- Prepare and maintain records and reports.
Requirements
- Driver's license valid in Maryland with less than 5 points.
- Prince George’s County Maryland Health Department Food Service Manager Certification and TIPS (or equivalent certification).
- State of Maryland Fire Marshall approved crowd management certification.
- Must obtain all certifications within 90 days of hire.
- Maintain DOT physical certification and pass random drug tests throughout employment.
- Ability to work variable schedules including weekends, nights, evenings, and holidays.
- Manual dexterity to operate equipment and lift up to 15 pounds regularly.
- Ability to work in extreme weather, humidity, and temperature conditions.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Five years progressively responsible experience in commercial or institutional food service, with at least two years in a lead or supervisory capacity.
Skills
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of large-scale food preparation and service.
- Knowledge of and skill in applying procedures and standards of quality and quantity food selection, preservation, preparation, meal service, and portion control.
- Knowledge of and skill in using food service equipment and materials.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local health and sanitation regulations applicable to food service activities.
- Ability to organize and coordinate food service operations, control workload, and provide guidance to food service personnel.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Ability to work in various weather and temperature conditions.
Benefits
The benefits package includes a salary range of $48,138.00 - $57,766.00, along with staff contractual C2 benefits. Candidates must complete a background check and employment eligibility verification.
