Food Service Lead
About the role
Under the general supervision of the Food Services Supervisor, the Food Service Lead is responsible for planning, developing, organizing, and maintaining the activities of the Food Service Department.
Responsibilities
- Identify food, equipment, and supply needs in conjunction with the Food Service Supervisor.
- Consult with a Registered Dietician to provide nutritionally adequate meals.
- Determine equipment requirements and layout design in conjunction with the Food Service Supervisor.
- Affirmatively assess emergency situations, promptly alert the supervisor to actual or potential challenges, and demonstrate sound judgment under pressure by responding calmly and efficiently. Actively contribute to team efforts during emergency responses.
- Proactively identify opportunities for improvement and offer appropriate recommendations to enhance operations beyond areas of direct oversight.
- Use problem-solving methods and critical thinking to continuously improve operations.
- Plans, controls, directs, and evaluates food service delivery.
- Provides daily meals and snacks for guests in a timely manner according to daily schedule.
- Participates as a team member to provide a safe recovery environment.
- Utilizes effective positive engagement and conflict resolution skills.
- Responsible for administering and monitoring budget activities in conjunction with the Food Service Supervisor.
- Manages budget resources in conjunction with the food service manager.
- Maintains and establishes sanitation and safety standards.
- Adheres to infection control protocols and other safety standards, actively maintaining a clean and safe workplace environment.
- Fosters personal and environmental wellness by taking care of self and maintaining environmental wellness by reporting infection and on the job injuries.
- Keeps abreast of all federal and state regulations and laws and all RI International policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
- Understands and adheres to RI International compliance standards as they appear in the Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policies.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Active and valid Food Handler’s Certification required.
- Active and valid Serve Safe Manager Certification required.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience cooking for large groups of people, thirty (30) plus, required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of food service experience in a nursing home or similar setting preferred.
- Minimum of one (1) year of supervisory/management experience preferred.
- Familiarity with Food Safety Regulations.
- Strong Organization Skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Must be able to pass de-escalation training, as defined by state requirements.
- May include work close to the eyes and substantial motions of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers. Frequent standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, pushing, pulling, reaching, climbing/balancing on a step stool to reach supplies/equipment, walking, handling, finger dexterity; eye-hand-foot coordination, use of corrected vision; color vision; use of auditory senses.
- May be required to lift and carry up to fifty (50) pounds.
- Must be at least 18 years old unless residing in a state where funder or government regulations set a different minimum age requirement.
- Travel required based on business need.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality (HIPAA guidelines and regulations) and professionalism.

- Must be able to pass substance abuse testing and/or tuberculous testing (if applicable).
- Must be able to pass education verification check.
- Must be able to obtain designated fingerprinting clearance in applicable states.
- Must be able to pass three-year motor vehicle report and meet minimum eligibility requirements criteria of insurance carrier (if driving is required for this position).

$18 - $20 per hour

Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm
