Key Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients for cooking, such as chopping vegetables, cutting meats, and preparing sauces.
- Follow recipes and portion sizes to ensure consistency and quality of dishes.
- Cook food to order and ensure that each plate meets quality standards before serving.
- Cook food to the appropriate level of doneness and garnish plates according to menu specifications.
- Ensure that all food is served in a timely manner and to the restaurant’s presentation standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen to promote efficiency.
Food Safety & Sanitation
- Follow all food safety protocols, including proper food storage, temperature control, and hygiene practices.
- Clean and sanitize kitchen tools, equipment, and work areas regularly.
- Ensure compliance with health regulations and restaurant safety standards.
Inventory & Stocking
- Monitor inventory levels and report shortages or need for reordering supplies.
- Assist in receiving and storing deliveries, ensuring proper rotation of stock.
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with other kitchen staff to maintain kitchen efficiency.
- Communicate effectively with the front-of-house team to ensure smooth coordination between the kitchen and dining area.
Equipment Maintenance
- Operate kitchen equipment (grills, fryers, ovens, etc.) safely and efficiently.
Quality Control
- Ensure food quality, consistency, and portion control.
- Resolve any issues with food preparation or cooking, ensuring customer satisfaction.
Experience
- Previous experience as a line cook or in a fast-paced kitchen environment preferred.
Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, kitchen safety, and sanitation standards.
Skills
- Ability to follow recipes and instructions, multitask effectively, and work in a high-pressure environment.
Physical Stamina
- Ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy objects, and handle kitchen tools and equipment safely.
Teamwork
- Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with other kitchen and service staff.
Education/Certifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- Demonstrated knowledge of food preparation and presentation.
- Good communication skills.
- Professional appearance.
- Basic computer proficiency, including the ability to use email and internet.
Working Conditions
- Work in a fast-paced, high-energy kitchen environment.
- Potential exposure to hot surfaces, sharp utensils, and cleaning chemicals.
- This is a full-time, seasonal position working at Sun Outdoors Myrtle Beach located in Conway, SC.
- This position is for 2nd shift.
