About the Role

As a Food Service Associate at Hackensack Meridian Health, you will prepare and deliver patient meals within strict deadlines while maintaining a high level of patient satisfaction for food and nutrition. This role involves meal preparation and assembly, dishwashing, utility work, and register handling.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains compliance with diet prescriptions and obtains patient preferences within those diets.
  • Operates the register, when assigned, following established procedures, including close-out, deposit steps, and completion of over-ring error slips.
  • Cleans and sanitizes all equipment, including cooking equipment, work stations, refrigerators, and food warmers.
  • Performs routine sanitation tasks such as sweeping, mopping, garbage removal, and completing daily checklists.
  • Completes and maintains proper documentation for dishmachine temperatures, chemical logs, food temperatures, late tray logs, and pantry supply sheets.
  • Posts menu boards and signage as assigned.
  • Prepares and serves food accurately following menu and portion guides.
  • Pre-portion desserts and other foods as assigned.
  • Stocks station with food, supplies, and other needed items.
  • Inspects china for cleanliness and chippings.
  • Delivers and picks up food trucks according to schedule and delivers Child Care meals as assigned.
  • Adheres to proper food handling methods as required by local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Follows all HACCP, Aide, and HIPAA guidelines, including proper hand washing, personal hygiene, food production, storage, labeling, dating, temperature recording, and cleaning/sanitation.
  • Handles other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to HMH organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs (preferred).
  • Some experience in food service (preferred).

Pay

Minimum starting rate of $17.62 per hour. The posted rate is a reasonable good faith estimate of the minimum base pay for this role and does not reflect the full value of our market-competitive total rewards package. The final compensation may vary based on factors such as labor market data, experience, education, certifications, skills, geographic location, internal equity, and budget considerations.

Some positions may be eligible for shift differentials for work performed on evening, night, or weekend shifts, as well as performance-based incentives, bonuses, or commissions.
