About the role
Food Service Assistant – responsible for assisting the Chef with daily food preparation, executing banquets and events at the Fluno Center, and preparing meals to order in Smitty’s Study Pub. Additional duties include cleaning, mopping/sweeping, taking out garbage/recycling, and doing dishes. The position works evening hours in the kitchen at the Fluno Center.
Responsibilities
- Greets customers, answers questions, and provides basic information regarding food preparation and associated activities.
- Assists and guides student workers.
- Cleans, inspects, and maintains kitchen equipment and work areas.
- Prepares a variety of basic dishes such as sandwiches and salads, and assists in the preparation of more complex dishes.
- Adheres to federal, state, and local food safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Performs routine food preparation activities such as portioning, chopping food, and serving food to customers.
Pay
Wage is $17.00 per hour plus $0.80 differential for weekend work (Saturday and Sunday) and $2.50 differential for night work (6 pm–6 am).
Schedule
Approximately 1:30 pm–9:30 pm, with flexibility on start time; must stay until 9:15–9:30 pm to assist with closing. Days vary based on business levels; any day of the week may be required. Weekly hours fluctuate between 20 and 35.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma preferred.
