Food Service Assistant - TE
Temporary (Fixed Term) position within the Wisconsin Union - Fluno Center Culinary department.
About the role
This position assists the Chefs with daily food preparation, execution of banquets and events at the Fluno Center, and preparing meals to order in Smitty’s Study Pub. Responsibilities include cleaning, mopping/sweeping, taking out garbage/recycling, and doing dishes. The role works evening hours in the Fluno Center kitchen.
Schedule
Approximate hours: 1:30 pm – 9:30 pm, with flexibility on start time but a required end time of 9:15–9:30 pm to assist with closing. Schedule varies based on business levels and may include any day of the week. Weekly hours fluctuate between 20 and 35.
Pay
$17.00 per hour with additional differential pay: +$0.80 for weekend work (Saturday and Sunday) and +$2.50 for night work performed between 6 pm and 6 am.
Responsibilities
- Greets customers, answers questions, and provides basic information regarding food preparation and associated activities
- Assists and guides student workers
- Cleans, inspects, and maintains kitchen equipment and work areas
- Prepares a variety of basic dishes such as sandwiches and salads, and assists in the preparation of more complex dishes
- Adheres to federal, state, and local food safety regulations, policies, and procedures
- Performs routine food preparation activities such as portioning, chopping food, and serving food to customers
