Food Service Assistant: Louisville, KY

About the role

At Bezos Academy, you'll play a crucial role in providing nutritious, compliant meals to children at our Montessori-inspired preschool. You'll manage all aspects of food preparation and service, supporting the school's mission to nurture every child's full potential.

Responsibilities

• Prepare CACFP-compliant menus and place food orders
• Manage food costs and ensure timely delivery of meals
• Ensure all meals meet USDA and Bezos Academy standards
• Assist with inventory checks, laundry, and other tasks
• Provide direct supervision and support in classrooms
• Support teachers and staff with classroom duties

Requirements

• Age 18 with high school diploma or GED
• Ability to pass background checks and complete required trainings
• Knowledge of cooking methods and procedures
• Experience in institutional or highly regulated kitchen settings
• Understanding of food allergens, intolerances, and accommodations
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office

Qualifications

• Active and current food worker card
• Fluency in English
• Experience working in a school or daycare setting
• Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or relevant coursework
• Experience with Montessori pedagogy
• Experience with children with special needs

Pay

$19-$28 per hour (~$39,000-$58,000 annually)

Schedule

Full-time (35 hours per week), benefits-eligible, non-exempt/hourly position. Schedule varies depending on community needs but generally ranges from 7:30am-5:30pm, Monday through Friday.
