Food Service Assistant

About the role

Bluffview Montessori School, a public charter school in Winona, MN, is seeking a dependable and service-oriented Food Service Assistant to support our school meal program during the 2026–2027 academic year. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a collaborative environment and is committed to the health and well-being of children. As a Montessori school, we emphasize independence, responsibility, and care for the environment—and that includes the food we serve.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing and cooking meals that meet state, federal, and school nutrition guidelines.
• Support meal setup, serving, and cleanup, ensuring food safety and sanitation standards are maintained.
• Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming kitchen and cafeteria environment.
• Monitor food inventory and assist in restocking supplies as needed.
• Work collaboratively with the Food Service Lead and other staff.
• Demonstrate a respectful and caring attitude toward students.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• ServSafe Certification (or ability to obtain).

Qualifications

• Experience working in a food service setting (preferred).
• Strong work ethic and ability to follow directions.
• Interest in supporting a healthy school environment aligned with Montessori values.

Pay

Starting Wage: $14.00 per hour
