Position Summary
Under the direction of the Food Service Lead, the Food Service Assistant helps with meal preparation, cooking, serving, and cleanup in accordance with health and safety guidelines. This role supports the smooth and efficient operation of the school's daily meal service while contributing to a positive dining experience for all students.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing and cooking meals that meet state, federal, and school nutrition guidelines.
- Support meal setup, serving, and cleanup, ensuring food safety and sanitation standards are maintained.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming kitchen and cafeteria environment.
- Monitor food inventory and assist in restocking supplies as needed.
- Work collaboratively with the Food Service Lead and other staff.
- Demonstrate a respectful and caring attitude toward students.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- ServSafe Certification (or ability to obtain).
- Experience working in a food service setting (preferred).
- Strong work ethic and ability to follow directions.
- Interest in supporting a healthy school environment aligned with Montessori values.
