About the role

The position is available as a part-time, benefits-eligible role with flexible hours, primarily 4:00pm-8:00pm, with occasional shifts from 11:30am-8:00pm.

Responsibilities

  • Assembles patient and mobile meal trays/meals in accordance with approved diet guidelines and portions while adhering to productivity standards.
  • Loads and transports food carts.
  • Delivers patient meal trays to patient rooms in accordance with established procedures.
  • May provide initial service to visitors in the cafeteria by serving food and maintaining the cleanliness of the cafeteria.
  • Operates cash register, handles cash, and completes daily reports and cash register balance sheets as needed.
  • Performs cleaning duties using established sanitation procedures in the kitchen and cafeteria.
  • Washes pots, pans, and dishes according to established procedures.
  • Assists with preparation, delivery, setup, cleanup and presentation of catered and specialized events.
  • Assists with "special days/promotions", including decorating.
  • Displays daily specials for presentation to customers.
  • Caters food and prepares snacks, beverages, sandwiches and other patient food items in accordance with standardized recipes and approved diet guidelines and portions while adhering to productivity standards.
  • Prepares, arranges, serves and replenishes supplies of food, beverages and condiments in retail areas and kitchen.
  • Prepares entrees, grill and deli sandwiches, and salads with an emphasis on food garnishing and presentation.
  • Replenishes food service areas to include supply of dishes, utensils, glassware, napkins and trays.
  • Delivers and stocks all nursing units, doctors' lounges, same day surgery and emergency rooms, following established procedures while adhering to productivity standards.
  • Maintains food temperatures and utilizes established procedures to ensure safe food handling techniques and prevent foodborne illness.

Requirements

No formal education is required. No experience is required.

Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge in food service from within a hospital, hotel, restaurant or a related environment.
  • Ability to read and understand written and oral communications.
  • Good communication and customer service skills to effectively interact with internal and external customers.
  • Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office or similar products.
  • Ability to use e-mail and internet.

Skills

  • Licenses, registrations, and certifications are not required.
  • Knowledge of basic food service operations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external customers.
  • Intermediate computer skills.
  • Ability to operate various kitchen equipment.

Schedule

Primarily 2-3 nights during the week, every other weekend and holiday. Shifts typically run from 4:00pm-8:00pm, with occasional shifts from 11:30am-8:00pm.

Pay

Pay range is $18.85 - $28.30 per hour, based on factors such as qualifications, skills, relevant experience, and/or training.
