About the Role

This is a dynamic and customer-focused position responsible for representing our brand and driving sales through engaging product demonstrations and exceptional customer service. The Food Service Ambassador is expected to be highly energetic, self-motivated, and passionate about food, with strong communication skills and a keen understanding of selling techniques.

This is a non-exempt position that formally reports to the Store Director.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist customers and co-workers in a courteous manner.
• Prepare food for sampling and selling.
• Be familiar with the items you are sampling or selling to accurately and courteously answer customer questions.
• Know where the product is located and the recipe/ingredients of the product you are sampling or selling.
• Make decisions concerning product display to enhance visual appeal for customers.
• Load and unload carts, and transport product from coolers, freezers, or shelves to the demo/food selling station.
• Operate and maintain small appliances needed for demonstrations or selling.
• Keep the demo/food selling station clean, free of trash, and clutter.
• Always wear sanitary gloves when sampling or selling product.
• Heat products to the correct temperature to avoid safety hazards.
• Know and implement Cosentino's Customer Service Standards.
• Understand, comply, and practice all health regulations, sanitation guidelines, and safety procedures.
• Assure the safety of self, customers, and co-workers by following store safety rules.
• Promote sales by engaging with customers, offering products, suggesting additional items, and providing samples.
• Complete additional tasks identified by management, assist other stores or departments as needed, and gain new skills when necessary.

Requirements

• A food handling permit must be obtained within the first 14 days of employment.
• Completion of ongoing training and development.
• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Skills

• Strong verbal and interpersonal skills for positive customer and peer interactions.
• Basic math and reading skills required for the position.

Physical Abilities

• Reaching, twisting at the waist, and lifting objects with both hands weighing up to 10 lbs.
• Pushing and pulling demo carts or food selling stations and grocery items, up to a peak force of 10 lbs.
• Standing and walking for long periods on tile, asphalt, concrete, or other hard surfaces.
• Occasionally lifting and carrying up to 10 lbs.
• Bending and squatting, at times all the way to floor level.
• Able to work in colder conditions, such as grocery coolers and freezers.
